GUIDED TOUR + DEMONSTRATION OF DRUM WINCH – 1 HOUR 30 MINUTES

La Roque-Saint-Christophe is home to the most realistic reconstructions of civil engineering machines The drum winch, or squirrel cage, featuring a large 10-foot diameter wheel, is one of the site’s most iconic devices. The guide will provide a detailed explanation of how it works, and you can witness a demonstration of the winch in action as it hoists a load.

ARCHEOLOGICAL EXCAVATION WORKSHOP

Children

Equipped with archeological tools, children will have the opportunity to set off on an adventure to excavate a “paleosol”, representing an Upper Paleolithic habitat. After their dig, they will do illustrations of their discoveries to interpret them and gain an understanding of the historical context of this habitat.

Is the route sheltered in case of inclement weather?

More than 80% of the visit route is sheltered.

Is special clothing required?

The temperature on the site is the same as outside, in the shade. So dress accordingly.
