Must-see guided tours of La Roque Saint-Christophe

La Roque Saint-Christophe, a troglodyte city and fortress in Peyzac-le-Moustier, is open all year round, even on public holidays! You can take a self-guided tour of the site, or join one of our many guided tours of La Roque Saint-Christophe during the summer months and school holidays.

Visit the Roque Saint-Christophe with a guide

La Roque Saint-Christophe has several floors, and a long main aerial terrace, the Grande Terrasse. You’ll marvel at the view from this terrace, with its panoramic views over the Vézère river, the valley and the countryside. The site is in its raw state, enhanced by a discreet path equipped for visitors (and safe for children!). Part of the site has been fitted out with recreated rock shelters, allowing you to imagine what the cliffs were like at the height of their occupation in the Middle Ages.

To make the most of your visit, we recommend that, where available, you take part in a guided tour of the Roque Saint-Christophe. At no extra cost, this is the best way to immerse yourself in the past of this limestone giant, to understand the strategic position and importance over the millennia of the Roque Saint-Christophe in the History of Mankind.

Passionate and fascinating guides

Our guides are experts in their field! Once you’ve collected your entrance ticket, proceed at your own pace to point 7, the entrance to the Grande Terrasse. The guides will accompany you throughout your visit to this exceptional promontory. They will give you historical summaries, tell you about the region, its landscapes and its geology. They will explain the uses and customs of the People of the Cliffs, the inhabitants of La Roque over the centuries and millennia.

The guided tours are suitable for everyone, including children, who will be delighted to listen to these fascinating guides. You’ll be able to ask them questions and seek clarification on key points.
