Night-time tours and a unique sound and light show at La Roque Saint-Christophe

Ready for a sensory voyage? For the first time, La Roque Saint-Christophe is opening its doors at dusk, offering night-time tours of the troglodyte fortress and city! A unique experience, punctuated by a sound and light show on the site: “the Enchanted Rock”La Roche Enchantée”. Imagine the cliff decorated with a dazzling, made-to-measure mapping show, highlighting the beauty of the limestone rock and the inestimable value of this natural area in the Vézère Valley. Plan your night-time visit to the Roque Saint-Christophe!

Visit Roque Saint-Christophe at dusk

Visiting the Roque during the day is pleasant and gives you the opportunity to take part in a guided tour. Visiting La Roque saint-Christophe by night is magical! Come and watch a sumptuous sunset, enjoy the orange lights at the end of the day and the subdued atmosphere over the Vézère Valley. Listen to the river flowing peacefully and nature recovering from a hot day in Périgord!

Attend the night show at La Roque Saint-Christophe

Access the site as usual, same place, same car park! The show takes place every evening from 1 July to 31 August, starting at 9pm.

Good to know: You can dine on site at the Restaurant de la Roque (les Délices de la Roque), which is located near the car park at the foot of the cliff. Excellent local food served with a smile! Book in advance…

Once you’ve paid the special entrance fee, you can access the site and visit it, just like during the day! Most of the show takes place on the Grande Terrasse. Powerful spotlights and projectors broadcast a high quality image over 300m of walkway, tailor-made to fit the shape of the rock. 17 paintings are presented, illustrating polychromy in the Middle Ages. It’s an interesting theme, sumptuously enhanced by an exclusive soundtrack created just for the occasion!

The show lasts around 1 hour, so allow at least 1.30 hour for the whole visit, and more if you wish!

Note: the powerful spotlights mean you can enjoy the show even in July, when the days are still long and the light fades late. In August, the sun sets earlier and night falls more quickly.

The show is designed for a family audience, so children will love the colour, light and music. Don’t worry if the weather is bad, as most of the tour route is sheltered from the rain!
