La Roque Saint-Christophe opens its doors at nightfall, inviting you to a magical evening stroll through the troglodytic fortress and city. This unique and unforgettable experience features an enchanting sound and light show: La Roche Enchantée.

Imagine walking through the fortress, guided by a warm and intimate beam of light… Discover the cliff as you’ve never seen it before, with bespoke lighting that highlights the beauty of the limestone rock and the priceless natural heritage of the Vézère Valley.

New in 2025: Costumed characters add a magical touch to your nighttime visit. A juggler, a knight, or a fairy-like dancer… they will accompany you and turn this moment into a truly enchanting experience.

Visiting La Roque Saint-Christophe during the day is a pleasant experience — and it gives you the opportunity to join a guided tour. But visiting La Roque at night… that’s pure magic!

Immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere as nature cools down after a hot summer day in the Périgord. We invite you to a nighttime stroll through the heart of the troglodytic fortress and city — an unforgettable experience.

The Grand Terrace becomes a stage for a poetic display of light — a moment to be savored in peace and tranquility. Take your time, with care and serenity… watch, listen — it’s an invitation to contemplation.

You’ll follow in the footsteps of Guilhem, the illuminator and painter, who, during a journey to La Roque Saint-Christophe in the year 1600, created magnificent colorful frescoes on the rock face. Though now faded with time, his works are brought back to life through a magical light show, projected onto the cliff walls.

Access the site as usual, same place, same car park! The show takes place every evening from 1 July to 31 August, starting at 10pm.

Good to know: You can enjoy dinner on-site at Le Restaurant de la Roque (Les Délices de la Roque), located near the parking area at the foot of the cliff. Excellent local cuisine served with a smile! Be sure to book in advance.

On Monday evenings — July 14, 21, 28 and August 4 and 11 — a Summer Night Gourmet Market will take place at La Roque Saint-Christophe.

After purchasing your special evening-entry ticket, you’ll be free to explore the site just as you would during the day! The sound and light show is mainly set on the Grand Terrace. Over a 300-meter stroll, custom-designed spotlights and projectors cast high-quality images onto the cliff, perfectly tailored to its unique shape. Sixteen scenes are presented, illustrating the rich polychromy of the Middle Ages, magnificently enhanced by an exclusive soundtrack created for the occasion (in French).

The walk lasts about 1 hour (1 km), so plan for at least 1.5 hours for the full visit — or more if you’d like to take your time!

This nighttime experience is designed for families — children will love the colorful, musical, and illuminated journey. And don’t worry about bad weather: most of the path is sheltered from the rain!
