Accessibility at La Roque Saint-Christophe

The Roque Saint-Christophe site has been certified by Tourisme & Handicap for visitors with intellectual and hearing disabilities.

We are doing everything we can to ensure the best possible experience for all our visitors. Here are the measures we have put in place to facilitate access to the site:

Parking: Free parking is available, with spaces reserved for people with disabilities located in front of the restaurant.

Access to the site: You can enter either via a gentle slope or a steeper staircase, which is equipped with a handrail for added safety.

Reception: A hearing loop is available at the reception desk to facilitate communication with people who use hearing aids.
A numbered map of the site is provided to each visitor to help them find their way around.

Tour route:
The tour includes approximately 80 steps round-trip. Since the site is a natural environment and a designated Historic Monument, the steps may be uneven, but they are all equipped with handrails.
There is a film with 3D imagery that helps visitors understand and clearly visualize what the site looked like in the Middle Ages, with the cave dwellings built into the cliff face. The film is subtitled.
The last flight of stairs, which is openwork and situated against the cliff, may make you feel dizzy. It’s easy to bypass, and doing so won’t prevent you from fully enjoying the museum’s exhibits.
There are benches along the tour route where you can rest and enjoy the scenery.

Mediation tools:

Guided tours:
Our guides are equipped with headsets that have speakers and adjustable volume, so everyone can hear them clearly.

Accessibility Information:
Due to the site’s natural layout and its status as a Historic Monument, unfortunately, the site is not accessible to wheelchairs or strollers.
We recommend bringing a baby carrier for toddlers.

Continuous Improvements:
We are committed to constantly improving the accessibility of the site EXCLUSIVELY in the reception building:

  • Visual markings on glass doors,
  • Brightly colored stair nosings
  • Non-slip strips at the top and bottom of the stairs.

🔶 We’re here to listen: please feel free to share your suggestions or specific needs with us. All feedback is valuable in helping us make our site even more welcoming and accessible to everyone.
