Workshop: Bird, What Do You Have to Tell Me? The Songs of the Birds of La Roque!
Join Mélody as she takes you on a journey into the fascinating world of birds and their songs. Through the legends and beliefs surrounding them, birds inspire us to dream and spark our imagination. Mélody knows them inside and out, and she’s offering a hands-on workshop where you can observe, identify, and listen to them!

The Vézère Valley is a pristine area. Designated a “Grand Site de France,” it is one of the cradles of humanity and is home to a wealth of biodiversity. The animals, the vegetation, and the people all come together to form a harmonious whole within landscapes of extraordinary beauty.
- Check out our “Flint Knapping and Fire-Making” workshop with Nicolas! And don’t miss our workshop on prehistoric musical instruments with Pascal.
Many birds frequent the cliffs, cavities, and rock shelters of La Roque Saint-Christophe. The Peregrine Falcon is the easiest to spot. It shares the cliffs with the Common Kestrel, the Black Kite, the Common Buzzard, the Hobby, the Eurasian Sparrowhawk, and the Honey Buzzard…And that’s just during the day; at night, nocturnal birds of prey are also abundant, such as the barn owl and the long-eared owl.
Birdwatchers will surely recognize the Wallcreeper, which visits us some winters in search of food—insects in the crevices of the rock. The Alpine Accentor, also a winter visitor, frequents the rocks when they are warmed by the sun’s rays.
- Guillaume, Tristan, and Bayard the horse are waiting for you to join a workshop on the relationship between humans and animals and chivalry!

La Roque: An LPO Refuge!
La Roque Saint-Christophe is an LPO sanctuary; we are committed to promoting bird life and protecting biodiversity in general on the cliff, doing our best to ensure that visitor activity does not interfere with the animals’ needs. We have installed feeders and nesting boxes, and we keep certain parts of the cliff accessible to birds so they can nest there!

When should I attend the bird song workshop?
- Mélody will be there this summer, on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
You’ll come across it along the tour route; the workshop is open to everyone at no extra charge.
